Let’s begin with the history of the Ceilidh. Cèilidh is a Scottish-Gaelic word that is pronounced “kay-lee.” Céil is the Irish word for Cèilidh. In the past, the term “Cèilidh” was used to refer to a social gathering; however, nowadays, a Cèilidh typically includes dancing and Gaelic folk music.
