Holy Family College of Health Sciences is a non-profit making organisation run by Catholic Church of the Blantyre Arch Diocese under the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). The college was established in 1963 by the Medical Missionary of Mary Sisters. It was established with an aim of training nurses who would in turn work for Holy Family Hospital. The nurses were then called Enrolled Nurses and the first cohort of three nurses graduated in 1966 with certificates. The college phased out training enrolled nurses in 2006 and started training Nurse Midwife Technicians (NMT) who graduate with a College Diploma. Currently, the college has two programs namely Nurse Midwife Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. Plans are underway to introduce new programs such as Community Midwifery Assistants, Certificate in Clinical Medicine and probably upgrade the Diploma in NMT to Degree in Nursing and Midwifery.
